About Hagastaden

Where to stay in Hagastaden
Each area has its own feel; here's who each one suits.
Hagastaden sits right on the city line. Its new blocks rise on the eastern side of Solna where Solna kommun joins Stockholm, so a base here puts both cities within a short walk, with the older streets of Hagalund alongside and the park of Haga a little to the north. The cross-boundary setting is the appeal.
Choose it for a modern foothold in Stockholm County, straddling the seam between Solna and the capital in eastern Sweden.
About Hagastaden
What are the main landmarks in Hagastaden?
Hagastaden is itself the landmark. As one of the newest built quarters on the eastern side of Solna, it carries no single old monument at its centre, taking its bearings instead from the city seam it occupies between Solna kommun and Stockholm. The architecture is the draw.
The older streets of Hagalund and the park of Haga lie just beyond, so within Stockholm County the district reads as a fresh urban corner of eastern Sweden defined by its own new blocks rather than by an inherited tower or hall.
What is the history of Hagastaden?
Hagastaden is recent ground. The eastern edge of Solna here was rail land and open margin between the towns before planners raised a new district across the boundary with Stockholm in the twenty-first century. Building knitted two cities together.
Where Solna kommun once simply ended, dense blocks now carry the urban fabric of Stockholm County over the old divide, making Hagastaden one of the youngest quarters of eastern Sweden beside the long-settled Hagalund.
Where is Hagastaden?
Hagastaden occupies the eastern side of Solna, a dense built district laid out where Solna kommun meets the boundary with Stockholm and the two cities of this part of Stockholm County run together. The line between them all but vanishes here. The quarter sits below the green of Haga to the north and beside the older blocks of Hagalund, a new urban edge of eastern Sweden close against the capital.
