What are the main landmarks in Jobar?

Jobar's great sights lie west of it, inside the walled city. The Umayyad Mosque anchors that core, and around it stand the Citadel of Damascus, the buried columns of the Temple of Jupiter, Damascus at the entrance to the covered market, and the medieval wards of the Nur al-Din Bimaristan. Faith left its mark nearest of all.

Jobar long stood as a village on the eastern approaches to Damascus, set among the gardens and orchards that ringed the walled city. Time folded it inward. As the capital spread beyond its gates, the old settlement was drawn into the fabric of Damascus while keeping a name and a memory older than the districts built up around it, its lanes tracing routes that once carried farmers toward the markets by the Umayyad Mosque.
