What is the history of Shilin District?
The river shaped the settlement. Shilin grew as a market town on the plain where the Keelung River bends below the hills, and its old core around the Shilin Night Market kept the district's commercial pulse as Taipei expanded outward to meet it. Newcomers reshaped the north.
