Vandeventer Avenue and 39th Street hold the two ends of it, Chouteau Avenue runs along the top and Interstate 44 along the bottom, so the whole neighbourhood is four lines on a map with about four-tenths of a square mile inside them.
The Missouri Botanical Garden is the neighbour that named it. Shaw begins south of the highway.

McRee Town came first. The City of St. Louis adopted a redevelopment plan for the area in 2000, and the Garden District Commission set about rebuilding the blocks between Chouteau Avenue and Interstate 44. Botanical Heights is the name that came out of it.
