Carr Square is the St. Louis neighborhood bounded by Cass Avenue, Carr Street, North Tucker Boulevard and North Jefferson.
About Carr Square

Where to stay in Carr Square
The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.
Downtown's front desks stop short of Carr Street. The blocks between Cass Avenue and Carr Street are housing, so a night inside Carr Square means a private let rather than a lobby, and the practical choice is a room to the south with the City Museum and the Gateway Arch already in reach. Cass Avenue keeps no lobbies.
Choose this ground if an address on North Jefferson or North 13th Street is the reason you came.
About Carr Square
What are the main landmarks in Carr Square?
Cass Avenue and Carr Street enclose no museum. St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the Shrine of St. Joseph are north side parish churches, and the Clemens House-Columbia Brewery District takes its name from a house and a brewery that once shared these blocks. The Griot Museum of Black History belongs to the same north side.
Downtown holds the rest: the City Museum, the National Blues Museum, Campbell House Museum, Citygarden, and the Gateway Arch at the river.
What is the history of Carr Square?
The name sits on the south line: Carr Street runs there, and Carr Square carries it. Cass Avenue closes the other end. The Clemens House-Columbia Brewery District carries a house and a brewery in its own name, from the years when the blocks north of downtown St. Louis were first built out.
Parishes came with them: St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the Shrine of St. Joseph were raised for the congregations that filled these streets. The Griot Museum of Black History gathers the record of that north side.
Where is Carr Square?
Five street names fix the edges. Cass Avenue holds the north, Carr Street the south, North Tucker Boulevard and North 13th Street the east, North Jefferson the west.
