Lindenwood Park sold its ground as house lots, so the one thing its blocks do not supply is a room for the night. Commercial frontage gathers along Hampton Avenue and Watson Road, where a line of Italian restaurants carries the influence of The Hill, the traditionally Italian quarter that lies to the northeast. Rail solves the distance.
The Blue Line of the MetroLink calls at Lansdowne Avenue on the western boundary, by the city line with Shrewsbury, so a bed in the centre of St. Louis is one train away. If you want mornings that stay residential, take a base on the streets off Watson Road.

What is the history of Lindenwood Park?
Lindenwood Park north of Pernod Avenue lay inside the Gratiot League Square, an eighteenth-century Spanish land grant held by the merchant Charles Gratiot. The nineteenth century divided it into tracts. House lots arrived in a rush through the 1920s and 1930s, when Southwest Park opened in 1924, Ivanhoe Park in 1927, Wenzlick Park in 1929 and Milton Terrace in 1937, and most of the building was done by 1950.
Lindenwood Heights, platted in 1963, was the last of them. The street names hold the sellers, among them James McCausland, Wesley Watson and James Fyler. Winfield Scott Hancock, the Union general, has a street as well.
Where is Lindenwood Park?
Lindenwood Park runs south from Arsenal Street and Interstate 44 to Watson Road and Chippewa Street, with Hampton Avenue on the east and the city limits on the west.
