North Hampton is house ground, and the commercial frontage sits on its rim rather than in its middle. That frontage runs along South Kingshighway Boulevard on the east and Chippewa Street on the south, with Hampton Avenue closing the west. Macklind Avenue splits the interior in two.

North Hampton's landmarks are Tilles Park on the Hampton Avenue side and the Brahm-Mitchellette Motor Car Company building at 3537 South Kingshighway Boulevard. The park covers 29 acres at Hampton and Fyler. The showroom went up in 1927 to a Spanish Revival design by John Peter Wunderlich, with a hipped tower bay, arched windows, and terra cotta trim.
Pontiacs were sold there into the 1940s. It reached the National Register in 2015, and Pernod Avenue runs along its south wall.
What is the history of North Hampton?
North Hampton took shape as the house ground west of South Kingshighway Boulevard filled in through the 1920s, and commerce followed the builders to the boulevard. Elmer Brahm and Joseph Mitchellette raised their Oakland-Pontiac dealership on that frontage in 1927, among the first purpose-built showrooms on a stretch St. Louis came to call Automobile Row. Tilles Park came nearly three decades later.
In 1955 the city sold a St. Louis County parcel that Andrew Tilles had given it, spent the proceeds on 29 acres at Hampton and Fyler, and made the ground a city park the next year. Chippewa Street carried Route 66 west out of the city.
