About North Point

Where to stay in North Point

Where you base yourself shapes the visit — here's the character of each area.

North Point has no hotel of its own, so the question is which way to leave Halls Ferry Circle. Go north and Missouri Route 367 becomes Lewis and Clark Boulevard, running out through Moline Acres and Spanish Lake to the Interstate 270 interchange a little over three miles on. Riverview Boulevard carries the same route south.

That road meets the Interstate 70 bridge where Route 367 begins, and downtown St. Louis lies well beyond, which makes any bed booked for North Point a driving decision. Come here only if Goodfellow Boulevard is your reason.

About North Point

What are the main landmarks in North Point?

Vivian Astra Park is the only public park in North Point, just over an acre at the corner of Vivian Avenue and Astra Avenue. Goodfellow Boulevard runs the north-west side. Missouri Route 367 takes the eastern edge as Riverview Boulevard, swinging around Halls Ferry Circle at the north corner before it leaves the city as Lewis and Clark Boulevard.

Herzog Elementary School sits back from West Florissant Avenue at the south end, and North Park United Methodist Church stands beside Riverview Boulevard at the north.

What is the history of North Point?

North Point grew as the southern end of the old Baden settlement, ground that farm traffic crossed long before anyone laid a street across it. The 1840s brought the Germans. Their congregations, Lutheran and Catholic, still stand in Baden across Riverview Boulevard, and the settlement they built through the 1850s put the village where the farm roads already ran.

Both spellings, North Point and North Pointe, remain in use.

Where is North Point?

Three lines fix North Point at the north end of St. Louis: Riverview Boulevard north-east, West Florissant Avenue south-west, and the Jennings city limit north-west.
