O'Fallon is residential ground, not hotel ground. Athlone Avenue and Holly Avenue are lined with brick and frame single-family homes, two-family houses, and the occasional small apartment block, and no hotel stands among them, so a room here means the wider St. Louis market and a drive in.
Come for the parks, not the beds. Fair Avenue and West Florissant Avenue carry the through traffic.

O'Fallon keeps its landmarks low and residential. Harrison School, a Romanesque schoolhouse of 1899 on Fair Avenue, joined the National Register in 2007, and part of Holly Avenue followed the same year. The heavier draws lie past the boundary: the lake and boathouse of O'Fallon Park, north across West Florissant Avenue, and the bear pit facade at the entrance of Fairground Park, south across Kossuth Avenue.
What is the history of O'Fallon?
O'Fallon carries the name of John O'Fallon, a nephew of William Clark who fought in the War of 1812 and later ran railroads, and whose land once covered this part of north St. Louis. The city bought 166 acres of that holding in 1875, and O'Fallon Park opened on it in 1908. Fairground Park, over the southern line, had served as fairgrounds from 1856 and as the Union camp Benton Barracks in the Civil War.
Harrison School went up in 1899.
