About Guangming
What are the main landmarks in Guangming?
Guangming reads less as a monument district than as green ground of hills and water. Wetland parks and local reservoirs have been laid out as ecological nodes, the Maozhou River and its tributaries run through it, and 47 kilometres of new greenways have been added. The built draw is science.
The site of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum lies in the core of the Central Science Park, just west of Guangming Station on Metro Line 6.
What is the history of Guangming?
Guangming was long part of Bao'an District. In 2007 it was set up as Guangming New District, the first functional area in Shenzhen, over the Gongming and Guangming offices. Change came fast.
In 2018 it became a formal district of six subdistricts, and building began on Guangming Science City in 2019. The Shenzhen Bay Laboratory settled here in 2020, and the plan is to make the district a northern centre for Shenzhen.
