A stay beside Guomao keeps the metro and the towers within a short walk, while the Dongmen side trades calm for round-the-clock markets and street food that spills across Dongmen Road late into the night.

What are the main landmarks in Luohu District?
The skyline stacks up around Guomao. Shun Hing Square, KK100 and the Guomao Building mark the district's commercial core, each a landmark on the walk in from the metro. To the east, Fairy Lake Botanical Garden wraps its ponds and Hongfa Temple against the flank of Wutong Mountain, the highest peak in Shenzhen at 944 metres, so the towers and the forest sit inside one district.
What is the history of Luohu District?
Luohu came first. When Shenzhen was promoted to a full city in 1979, this stretch beside the Shenzhen River became its earliest district and the ground on which the new special economic zone was tried. The border station at Luohu Port turned a farming edge into the mainland's busiest land crossing to Hong Kong, and the offices, markets and towers that followed grew outward from the checkpoint.
