The densest stock sits around Shenzhen North railway station, where Line 4, Line 5 and Line 6 of the Shenzhen Metro converge and a high-speed train reaches Guangzhou or Hong Kong in well under an hour, while quieter rooms lie north in Guanlan Subdistrict near Mission Hills.

Longhua District keeps its draws split between industry and art. Two poles pull. The Longhua Cultural and Sports Center gathers the district's stages, courts and civic events under one roof near the Longhua town core, while up in Guanlan Subdistrict the Guanlan Original Printmaking Base turns old Hakka lanes into a working colony of etching studios and galleries.
Mission Hills spreads its fairways across the same northern hills. Nearby rises Yangtai Mountain, whose ridge closes the district's western edge and gives walkers a green break from the Foxconn factory grid below.
What is the history of Longhua District?
Longhua grew from a scatter of Hakka market villages into one of Shenzhen's manufacturing engines. Factories came first. The Foxconn complex at Longhua Science and Technology Park drew hundreds of thousands of workers into what had been farmland, and the town swelled far faster than its administrative status, which lagged behind the sprawl.
Longhua District was carved out as a new district in 2011. It gained full district rank in 2016, by which time the Shenzhen North railway station had made the once-outlying town a northern gateway on the national high-speed network.
Where is Longhua District?
Longhua District covers a hilly inland stretch of Shenzhen, rising toward Yangtai Mountain and reaching north to the Dongguan boundary, well back from the coast around the six subdistricts of Longhua, Minzhi, Dalang, Guanlan, Fucheng and Guanhu.
