What is the history of Žnjan?
The parishes came first. Žnjan grew from the church settlements above the eastern bay of Split, where the Church of Our Lady of Pojišan and the Krstulović House stood among fields long before the modern seafront filled in below them. Above the old hamlet of Pazdigrad, the Church of St. Lawrence of Pazdigrad served the farming hamlet of Pazdigrad higher on the slope. Those older cores still shape how the district climbs from the shore.
