Bhavani Peth carries budget hotels and guesthouses rather than a visitor-facing hotel strip, most of them small places set among the timber yards and hardware godowns off Jawaharlal Nehru Marg. Traders buying steel and fittings fill many of the rooms. Godowns outnumber guesthouses here.
If you want greenery and restaurants you will do better in Pune Cantonment, over to the east, and Swargate to the south-west puts the long-distance bus stands within reach. Pune Junction lies north for rail arrivals.

Shri Bhavani Mata Mandir gives Bhavani Peth its name, a north-facing stone shrine whose sanctum holds a four-armed black stone image of the goddess said to have come from Tuljapur. Its assembly hall stands on carved wooden columns hung with glass lamps. Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir shares the courtyard, its paired black stone figures set to the right of the main sanctum.
The Timber Market runs off Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, its yards stacked with sawn planks and fittings for builders working across the city. Kattal Khana Road holds the hardware.
What is the history of Bhavani Peth?
Madhavrao I founded Bhavani Peth on 12 April 1768 as a wholesale trading quarter for Pune, granting the settlement deed to the clerk Mahadaji Vishwanath Limaye. Merchants who moved in were promised seven years free of government dues. The ground lay east of the Nagzari, then the south-eastern edge of town under bor trees, and the Bhavani temple already standing there gave the new peth its name.
Handloom weaving came first. Timber, steel and hardware later took over from the looms, and the wholesale purpose written into the deed still shapes these streets.

Bhavani Peth occupies the older core of Pune, east of the Nagzari watercourse that once marked the town's edge. Nana Peth borders the north. Ganesh Peth lies to the north-west, the Cantonment lies out to the east, and Swargate with its bus stands sits off to the south-west past the timber lanes.
