Stays cluster near Barbari Square, the neighbourhood's busiest crossing. Rooms are plain. Most visitors here come to reach the bazaar trade of southern Tehran rather than for sightseeing, so the useful measure is how quickly you can walk to a main road and a shared taxi.
Bahmanyar Street runs the western edge, and Shahid Rajai Street closes the east.

Barbari Square anchors the neighbourhood. It is the main square of Yakhchi Abad, ringed by shops and the raucous alley of iron sellers that gives the quarter part of its trade. Mofrah Hospital stands on Bahmanyar Street, a fixed marker for the west side.
The Yadvaran Sports Complex draws crowds for football and training on the neighbourhood's edge, while the Rezvan caravanserai lingers nearby as a worn survivor of the older market that once fed this grid of workshops and low houses.
What is the history of Yakhchi Abad?
The name is older than the concrete. Yakhchi Abad takes its name from the Azerbaijani word yakhchi, which means good and nods to the greenery that once covered this ground before southern Tehran spread over it and paved it. A vegetable-oil works nearby lent the alternate name Yagh Abad.
Municipal planners have floated tidier labels over the years without ever dislodging the original one. What grew instead was a dense grid of low houses and the iron trade that still rings around Barbari Square.

Yakhchi Abad fills a flat, built-up wedge of southern Tehran between Tolai Street and the Azadgan Expressway, with Nazi Abad above and Khani Abad east.
