Funado is a chōmei of Itabashi in Tokyo, running from Funado 1-chōme to 4-chōme at the northern tip of the ward. The Arakawa closes it to the north.

Route 17, the old Nakasendō, runs north to south through the middle of Funado, with the Tōhoku Shinkansen and the Saikyō Line beside it. The ward is factory ground, and logistics depots have been built on it. Toda in Saitama lies across the Arakawa.

What are the main landmarks in Funado?
Ukima-ga-ike in Funado 2-chōme is a leftover of the old Arakawa channel, and a second pond in Funado 4-chōme carries the name Oitekibori. The Toda ferry crossed the Nakasendō here from the late sixteenth century. Factories fill the rest.
What is the history of Funado?
Before the han were abolished in 1871 the ground was Hasunuma village, later Kami-Hasunuma after a division, and Neba village, in Toshima District of Musashi Province. It was low wet moor. Reeds and kaya grew where the Arakawa bent about.
The Toda ferry on the Nakasendō is said to have started in the late sixteenth century, and Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered the road improved in 1602, when the landing was built up. The Arakawa flood of 11 August 1910 did great damage downstream, and the river was straightened after it.
Where is Funado?
Funado lies at the north of Itabashi, between the Arakawa and the Shingashi River. Ukima in Kita-ku adjoins to the east, and Sakashita, Hasune and Takashimadaira lie south across the Shingashi. It is flat.
