What are the main landmarks in Lademoen?

Rockheim glows on the quay. The national music museum is the district's signature, sharing the harbour edge with the Pirbadet bathing hall and the Trondhjems Sjøfartsmuseum that keeps the city's seafaring past. Churches mark the streets inland.

Lademoen kirke serves the quarter, Bakke kirke and Bakke kloster hold the older ground by the river, and the heritage Rosenborgbanen line recalls the trams that once threaded this eastern side of Trondheim.

What is the history of Lademoen?

Lademoen grew as a working district. The flat ground east of central Trondheim filled with housing and industry as the city spread toward the Lade shore, and its church, Lademoen kirke, rose to serve the new streets. Older ground lay nearby.

Bakke kirke and the cloister site of Bakke kloster mark the medieval crossing of the river just to the west, while in later years the harbour sheds gave way to halls such as Rockheim, turning the quayside from cargo to culture.

Where is Lademoen?

Lademoen lies on the eastern side of central Trondheim. The district runs from the older streets out toward the harbour and the start of the Lade peninsula, with the fjord shore close at hand and the quaysides where Rockheim and the bathing hall at Pirbadet stand drawing the city eastward along the water. The sea sets its edge.
