Reutov is small enough to make the choice easy. Beds in the centre put the Vadim Sidur museum, the Holy Trinity Church and the shops within one walk, and nothing in the town is far enough off to need planning around. Walking covers the whole town.
The Church of Our Lady of Kazan and the Church of Saint Michael fill out what there is to see without adding much to the day. The rest lies outside the boundary. Ivanovskoye holds an estate belfry, a walled park and the ponds inside it, along with the Church of Nativity of John the Baptist in Ivanovskoye, and a bed on that side shortens the walk to all of them.
Gireevo is the same case. The Terletsky estate there keeps a main house and a wing on Svobodny Prospekt, with the Church of the Holy Mandylion in Gireevo close by. Kuskovo is the bigger prize, since the American Orangerie and the great stone orangery stand in grounds laid out on a scale Reutov never had.
Moscow is near enough that many people never book here at all. Stay if you want a quiet base and a short run into the city.

What is the history of Reutov?
Reutov enters the record in 1492. Older than that is the Strokino fortification, an earthwork left from a defended site on the same ground. Estates followed.
The Terletsky estate at Gireevo and the Ivanovskoye estate with its belfry, walled park and ponds were laid out while Reutov itself was still a small place east of Moscow. Kuskovo set the standard nearby. Its grounds took the great stone orangery and the American Orangerie, buildings of a kind no village on this ground could have raised for itself.
Parishes came with the estates. The Church of Nativity of John the Baptist in Ivanovskoye, the Church of the Holy Mandylion in Gireevo, the Church of Our Lady of Kazan and the Church of Saint Michael all belong to that spread of settlement, while the Holy Trinity Church serves Reutov itself. Industry and housing then filled the gaps, and the town ended up denser than its neighbours in Moscow Oblast, with under nine square kilometres to work with.
The Vadim Sidur museum came later, and it is what most visitors name.

Kuskovo, with its orangeries, belongs to the same stretch of country between the town and the capital.
What is the climate of Reutov?
The ponds at Ivanovskoye freeze first. Snow holds on the walled park and the belfry there for months, and the season is long enough that the walking year comes down to two short halves either side of it. Summer is short work.
The Vadim Sidur museum and the Holy Trinity Church take visitors in any weather, while the grounds at Kuskovo are worth the trip only once the orangeries have something green around them.
How do you get to Reutov?
Reutov is a short run east of Moscow. Most people arrive from the city rather than the other way about, and the town is small enough that a walk from any arrival point covers the Vadim Sidur museum and the Holy Trinity Church. Little of it needs a car.
Ivanovskoye, Gireevo and Kuskovo lie on the way in or out, so the estates and their churches fit around a journey rather than needing one of their own.
