What is the history of Ladugårdsgärdet?
Building ran from 1929 to about 1950. In those two decades Ladugårdsgärdet went up as one of the largest residential districts Stockholm had built, block after block of modernist apartments, with the open field left in place beside them. The name Gärdet stuck to the field itself.
Ladugårdsgärdet remains the official form, and the shorter name is the one people use for the grass where circus, music and sport arrive each summer.
