Wynwood, Miami — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Wynwood is Miami's art district, a former warehouse grid now painted end to end and hung with galleries.
About Wynwood

Where to stay in Wynwood
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Beds sit among the murals. Wynwood keeps its lodgings inside the painted warehouse blocks, close to the Rubell Museum and the open-air lanes of Wynwood Walls, which suits visitors who want galleries and late food within a short walk rather than a drive across Miami. The quieter northern edge near The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse draws travellers who prefer studio calm after dark.
Choose your block by what you want at the door.
About Wynwood
What are the main landmarks in Wynwood?
Wynwood Walls anchors the district, an outdoor court of commissioned murals that turned a warehouse block into a gallery without a roof. Collections crowd the surrounding streets. The Rubell Museum and The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse fill old industrial floors with contemporary art, while the MDC Museum of Art + Design and the Haitian Heritage Museum widen the range past the paint outside.
The Museo de la Ciencia Phillip y Patricia Frost sits within reach for families who want more than galleries.
What is the history of Wynwood?
Warehouses came first. Wynwood grew as a working district of garment factories and produce sheds serving Miami, its low brick blocks built for storage rather than show. Older institutions survived alongside the industry, among them the Greater Bethel AME Church and the Ward Rooming House, which recall the Black communities that shaped this stretch of the city long before the galleries arrived.
Artists took the empty warehouses later, and painted walls followed the studios into the district.
Where is Wynwood?
Wynwood sits just north of downtown Miami, a flat subtropical grid of warehouse blocks set back from the bay and threaded by mural-covered streets.
