Orlando keeps the rooms. Azalea Park is unincorporated county ground given over to houses, so a visitor books downtown and drives out, which takes only a few minutes along Colonial Drive or Curry Ford Road. Two airports sit close.
Orlando Executive Airport touches the western boundary and Orlando International lies to the south, both under the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. Full Sail University is just outside the line.

This is a services address rather than a sightseeing one. The Florida Highway Patrol has its Orlando station just off Semoran Boulevard at Lake Underhill Road, and the same building holds a Florida Department of Transportation office with the Orlando regional traffic management centre in it. Communications centres cluster here too.
The Highway Patrol, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Orange County Fire Rescue all run theirs from Azalea Park, and both the county and the city keep their Emergency Operations Centers in the area. AdventHealth East Orlando is the local hospital. Orlando Regional Medical Center, with the only Level 1 trauma centre in Central Florida, is less than three miles off.
What is the history of Azalea Park?
Azalea Park never took a charter of its own. Orange County governs it directly, and the name enters the public record as a census-designated place, a boundary drawn so the Census Bureau can count an unincorporated area separately. That absence is real, not a gap in the sources.
What the county has built here instead is administrative: the state highway patrol station, the transport department office, the emergency operations centres of both Orange County and the city of Orlando. Schools carry the local names. Azalea Park Elementary, Chickasaw Elementary, Forsyth Woods Elementary and Colonial High School serve the neighbourhood, with Valencia College East the nearest public institution beyond school age.

Azalea Park covers about eight square kilometres of Orange County east of Orlando, bounded by Colonial Drive to the north, Goldenrod Road to the east and Curry Ford Road to the south, with Semoran Boulevard and the Orlando Executive Airport on the western side.
