Each area has its own feel; here's who each one suits.
MetroWest sits four miles from Universal Orlando Resort, beside a golf course rather than on a resort strip. Kirkman Road runs its eastern edge, carrying traffic south to Universal Orlando Resort and past Valencia College. South Hiawassee Road takes the rest.
Stay near the MetroWest Golf Club if your morning starts on a tee, or in Downtown Orlando, ten miles north-east, if you would rather walk out to dinner than drive.

What are the main landmarks in MetroWest?
MetroWest was planned around its golf course, and the eighteen-hole MetroWest Golf Club opened in 1987 to a design by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Valencia College holds its West Campus along Kirkman Road, on the eastern edge. MetroWest Village stands at South Hiawassee Road and Westpointe Boulevard.
Street names do the rest. Two of them are Arnold Palmer Drive and Robert Trent Jones Drive.
What is the history of MetroWest?
MetroWest was citrus land before it was streets, endless rows of orange groves south of Hiawassee Road. Assembly of the tract began in 1982 under an Orlando developer, Debra, Inc. Its founder, Aaron Dowd, put 1,805 acres together, Hiawassee Road was widened to carry what would rise on it, and ground preparation ran five years.
The MetroWest Master Association formed in February 1986, and its Design Review Board has vetted every plan since. Work on the golf clubhouse started then. Houses went up around the course from 1987.
MetroWest Village, the first shopping centre, opened at the end of the decade.
Where is MetroWest?
MetroWest is edged by Kirkman Road to the east, Turkey Lake to the south-east, and Florida's Turnpike to the south-west. South Hiawassee Road bisects it.
