Mount Clemens is the walkable alternative. Grace Episcopal Church stands there, and the neighbouring centre gives a visitor streets to use in the evening, which the township's own subdivisions largely do not. Detroit remains the default.
The city lies 22 miles southwest, near enough that a room downtown still allows a morning at the Holcombe Site or the Riviere au Vase Site and an afternoon back in the centre without straining the day. Sport fills the middle ground. The Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena draws its own weekend traffic, and a bed near it makes sense for families whose whole reason for being in Michigan is a tournament schedule.
