LaSalle Park is a residential wedge with a corporate campus at its head, so the rooms sit downtown rather than here. Chouteau Avenue runs the northern edge past the Nestlé Purina PetCare headquarters at 800 Chouteau Avenue and carries straight into downtown St. Louis.
Tucker Boulevard shuts the western side. If you book a downtown room for the Gateway Arch, roughly a mile northeast, the walk back in gives you brick streets and the two small greens at Mestres Park and Ray Leisure Park.

What are the main landmarks in LaSalle Park?
LaSalle Park keeps two immigrant parish churches a few blocks apart. St. John Nepomuk began in 1854 as the first Bohemian national parish in the United States, and the Gothic Revival church Adolphus Druiding drew was largely rebuilt in 1897 after the 1896 tornado. St. Raymond Maronite Cathedral stands on Lebanon Drive, raised by families from Hadchit who first bought ground on LaSalle Street.
Industry left its own listings. The Moloney Electric Company Building fills the 1141 block of South 7th Street, and Meriwether Lewis Clark Sr., son of the explorer William Clark, designed St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Gateway Arch belongs to downtown.
What is the history of LaSalle Park?
LaSalle Park was drawn as a legally separate neighborhood, carved out of the larger Soulard district by the city of St. Louis and Ralston Purina. Ralston Purina put its first building at 800 Chouteau Avenue in 1902. Interstate 55 and Interstate 44 then cut these blocks away from Soulard, and the emptied streets went into a redevelopment plan that laid brick sidewalks and reproduction street lamps.
The rest was paperwork. Ralston Purina and the Landmarks Association of St. Louis filed for National Register status in 1977, and the Speck District was listed on August 15, 1983.
Where is LaSalle Park?
Chouteau Avenue caps LaSalle Park to the north, Tucker Boulevard draws its western line, and Interstate 55 shuts the southeast against Soulard.
