What is the history of College Point?
Industry and housing grew together. The neighborhood kept both, so factory blocks and small workshops stand near the streets of houses that fill the ground between Flushing Bay and 138th Street. The Poppenhusen Memorial keeps that name in public view.
Later arrivals made College Point one of the borough's mixed communities, and the Whitestone Expressway drew the southern boundary against Flushing.
