Whitestone, New York City — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Whitestone is a residential neighborhood in the northernmost part of Queens, edged by the East River and by Francis Lewis Boulevard.

About Whitestone

Where to stay in Whitestone

The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.

Hotel rooms are scarce in Whitestone. Whitestone runs to quiet residential streets, so most visitors end up looking along the Whitestone Expressway corridor or toward Flushing, where rooms sit closer to the main roads and the wider street grid. Francis Lewis Boulevard carries the traffic east toward Bayside, and the East River shoreline gives the north side its outlook.

Stay here if you want the quiet residential end of Queens rather than a night out.

About Whitestone

What are the main landmarks in Whitestone?

Whitestone keeps no grand set pieces. The East River waterfront is the fixed point, a north-facing shoreline that gives the neighborhood its open edge and separates it from the far bank. College Point sits immediately west. Beyond the eastern line at Francis Lewis Boulevard, Bayside carries on toward the rest of Queens, and Flushing lies south past 25th Avenue with its far larger street network.

What is the history of Whitestone?

Boundaries here follow the roads. The Whitestone Expressway on the western side and Francis Lewis Boulevard on the eastern one fixed a limit that otherwise runs between the East River shore and the neighboring ground at College Point and Flushing. It belongs to the borough of Queens.

Residential building has dominated the land inside those lines, leaving a district of streets rather than monuments, with 25th Avenue marking the southern limit against Flushing and Bayside beyond the boulevard.

Where is Whitestone?

The East River closes Whitestone on the north, with College Point and the Whitestone Expressway west, Flushing and 25th Avenue south, and Bayside east.
