Woodhaven, New York City — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Woodhaven is a residential neighborhood in southwestern Queens, running from Forest Park down to Atlantic Avenue and the edge of Ozone Park.

About Woodhaven

Where to stay in Woodhaven

Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.

Atlantic Avenue is the spine for anyone staying here, carrying traffic along the southern boundary toward Ozone Park while the residential blocks behind it keep to houses and small streets. Hotel rooms are scarce. Most travellers book across the line in Richmond Hill or Ozone Park, or head west into Brooklyn past Cypress Hills, where the supply runs deeper.

Choose Woodhaven itself if you want Forest Park on your doorstep.

About Woodhaven

What are the main landmarks in Woodhaven?

Forest Park does most of the work. The woodland along the northern boundary at Park Lane South gives Woodhaven its one large open space, and the street grid runs south from there toward Atlantic Avenue. Dexter Park is the other named site.

Beyond the borders, Richmond Hill sits east, Ozone Park south, and the Cypress Hills part of East New York begins on the Brooklyn side of the western line.

What is the history of Woodhaven?

The park set the northern limit. Forest Park and Park Lane South have held Woodhaven's upper boundary while Atlantic Avenue fixed the southern one, leaving a band of residential streets running between them across southwestern Queens. Neighbors pressed in from three sides.

Richmond Hill closed the eastern edge, Ozone Park the southern, and the Cypress Hills part of East New York the western, which put the Brooklyn line directly against Woodhaven's streets. Dexter Park remains on the neighborhood's list of named places.

Where is Woodhaven?

Forest Park and Park Lane South close Woodhaven on the north, with Richmond Hill east, Ozone Park and Atlantic Avenue south, and Cypress Hills west in Brooklyn.
