Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
Bond Hill carries no lodging of its own, so the room is booked elsewhere. The neighborhood runs residential. Reading Road holds the spine of it and the Norwood Lateral, State Route 562, crosses the southern end, so the run down to Downtown Cincinnati, where the city keeps the deepest supply of rooms, is a simple one.
A smaller cluster sits south in Oakley and Norwood. You will want the northern option, out along Interstate 75 toward Sharonville, when the trip is about the Reading Road corridor itself.

What are the main landmarks in Bond Hill?
Bond Hill's protected core is Bella Vista Street, a one-block lane of Tudor Revival cottages east of Reading Road. Cincinnati made the lane its twenty-fifth historic district in 2019, the first in the city drawn mostly from the 1920s and 1930s. Two institutions share the north end.
Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, the oldest operating Black congregation in Cincinnati, took the ground east of Reading Road at East Seymour Avenue, across from Woodward Career Technical High School at 7005 Reading Road. Maketewah Country Club takes the green ground west of Reading Road, off Paddock Road.
What is the history of Bond Hill?
Bond Hill was founded in 1870 by the Cooperative Land and Building Association No. 1 of Hamilton County, Ohio, the first post-Civil War housing cooperative in Cincinnati. Several of its founders were teetotallers from Cumminsville, and the by-laws barred liquor sales for at least eleven years. Commuters rode the Marietta and Cincinnati Railroad.
The village incorporated in 1886 and was annexed in 1903, and orchards and dairy farms held the ground until the mid-1930s. Swifton Center opened on Reading Road in 1956 as the first shopping mall in the Cincinnati area, three years after Woodward High School moved out from downtown.

Bond Hill sits east of the Mill Creek on the northeast side of Cincinnati, with Roselawn above it, Paddock Hills below, and Norwood off the southeast corner.
