Cincinnati's wealthy established Hyde Park as a retreat from the city, and the neighborhood they built has stayed residential, which is why so much of its record is made of private houses rather than institutions. The names on them are the families' own. The August Bepler House, the Bernheim House, the Harry Milton Levy House, the John Henry Weston House and the Rudolph Tietig House all survive under the name of an owner.
So does the Stephen Decker Rowhouse. The Mornington syndicate bought the land in 1892, the village was incorporated in 1896 and Cincinnati annexed it between 1903 and 1909, with the Hyde Park Methodist Episcopal Church and St. Rose Church alongside.
