River Road runs the length of Sedamsville, and it carries traffic through the neighborhood rather than delivering it to a bed. Hotels do not line River Road. The nearest clusters sit east in downtown Cincinnati, north over the hill in Price Hill, or across the Ohio River on the Kentucky bank, each a short drive along US 50.
You would choose this side for quiet mornings and for the brick fronts of Steiner Avenue and Fairbanks Avenue. Mount Echo Park crowns the hill above.

What are the main landmarks in Sedamsville?
Two National Register districts hold the ground. The Sedamsville River Road Historic District follows the long frontage along River Road, reaching up to Mt. Hope Avenue and Mt. Echo Park Drive above it. Steiner Avenue, Delhi Avenue, Fairbanks Avenue, Sedam Street, and Edwin Street make up the Sedamsville Village Historic District.
Ball fields fill Pete Rose Park by the water. The Koehnken organ built for Our Lady of Perpetual Help around 1888 was moved out to Holy Family Catholic Church in Price Hill.
What is the history of Sedamsville?
Colonel Cornelius Sedam came west around 1789 to help raise Fort Washington, and the riverbank settlement of 1795 took its name from him and his son Henry. John Cleves Symmes sold him 640 acres in 1799. The village incorporated in 1835 within Storrs Township, and Cincinnati annexed the township in 1870.
One of the first Fleischmann's Yeast factories in the country stood here, run by Louis Fleischmann, his brother Maximilian, and James Gaff. Then came the flood of 1937. The widening of River Road in the decade after finished what the water had begun.

Sedamsville holds a narrow shelf between the Ohio River and the Price Hill hillside, Riverside downstream to the west and downtown Cincinnati upstream.
