What is the history of Sindelfingen?

Pottery came out of the ground first. The site catalogued as Sindelfingen (Samian Ware Discovery Site) marks where those finds turned up, evidence of settlement long before any of the buildings now standing. St Martin in Sindelfingen is the oldest of those buildings, and the Vogtshaus, the Grüner Turm, the Ehemaliger Fruchtkasten and the Firstsäulenhaus Sindelfingen survive from the town that grew around it.

A Mercedes Benz plant reshaped the place around industrial work, drawing people from far outside Baden-Württemberg, and Motorworld Region Stuttgart later turned the same enthusiasm into an exhibition of its own. Communities that resettled here brought their own collections, kept at the Haus der Donauschwaben Sindelfingen and the Heimatmuseum des Nordböhmischen Niederlandes.

Two monuments mark harder memories: the Denkmal der Brüderlichkeit ehemaliger Kriegsgefangener stands for former prisoners of war, and the Denkmal für die Familie Ullmann carries one family's name. Churches multiplied as the town filled out, among them the Stadtpfarrkirche St Dionysius, the Paul-Gerhardt-Kirche and St Bonifatius.
