What are the main landmarks in Hovinsaari?

Hovinsaari is the cultural waterfront of Kotka. The Merikeskus Vellamo dominates the quay, a maritime centre that houses both the Suomen merimuseo and the Kymenlaakson museo, and beside it the museum icebreaker Jäänmurtaja Tarmo lies moored as a floating exhibit. Two more ships keep it company.

Alongside wait the lightship Majakkalaiva Kemi and the pilot cutter Luotsikutteri Pitkäpaasi, rounding out the fleet on display. There is more than ships here. The Kotkan kirkko stands among the streets, and the Haukkavuoren näkötorni rises on the heights for views over the harbour and the islands.

Hovinsaari lies in eastern Kotka, on the waterfront beside the harbour-island core of Kotkansaari.
