The right area depends on your trip — here's what each neighbourhood is best for.
Most stays land in the centre. Rooms near the Église Saint-Christophe put the MUba Eugène-Leroy, the Verlaine Message Museum and the Monument de la Victoire inside a walk of a few minutes, and the église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Tourcoing closes the same circuit. Stock is limited.
Much of it belongs to a working city rather than a tourist one. The Monument de la Victoire is the landmark to steer by. Roubaix begins at the boundary.
Beds on that side put La Piscine, the Église Saint-Martin de Roubaix and the Église Notre-Dame de Roubaix within reach, and the two towns run together closely enough that the walk between them is short. The Église Saint-Joseph de Roubaix marks the far end of it. Water is the third option.
Tourcoing les Bains and the centre nautique Thalassa sit in quieter blocks with the complexe Pierre de Coubertin nearby, which suits a family stay more than a night in the middle. The stade Patrick Balaÿ, the complexe Depoortere and the complexe Lietaer are the other landmarks out there, useful when a fixture rather than a museum is the reason for the trip.
