Wang Tau Hom, Hong Kong — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Wang Tau Hom is a public housing area of mid-north New Kowloon, part of Hong Kong's Wong Tai Sin District.
About Wang Tau Hom

Where to stay in Wang Tau Hom
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
This is not a lodging address. Wang Tau Hom Estate accounts for the ground, so a bed near this address means looking outward into Wong Tai Sin District, where the blocks around the Morse Park Sports Centre come closest to ordinary lodging. The Kai Tak Development lies south.
Its newer streets, edged by the Kai Tak East Sports Centre and within reach of the Mission Road Ground, hold more of what a visitor would recognise as a hotel district than anything inside the estate.
About Wang Tau Hom
What are the main landmarks in Wang Tau Hom?
Sport, not architecture, supplies the named places around Wang Tau Hom. The Morse Park Sports Centre, the Po Kong Village Road Sports Centre, the Choi Hung Road Sports Centre and the Choi Hung Road Badminton Centre all stand within Wong Tai Sin District, the administrative unit the area belongs to. Estate ground allows little else.
Further out the same list picks up the Ngau Chi Wan Sports Centre to the east, the Kai Tak East Sports Centre and the Mission Road Ground on the southern side, then runs west across New Kowloon to the Cornwall Street Squash and Table Tennis Centre and the Po On Road Sports Centre.
What is the history of Wang Tau Hom?
Public housing wrote the outline here. Wang Tau Hom Estate gave this patch of mid-north New Kowloon its everyday identity, and estate blocks still account for most of what stands on the ground. Administration draws the larger line.
Wong Tai Sin District covers Wang Tau Hom, and that is why the nearest civic buildings, the Morse Park Sports Centre and the Po Kong Village Road Sports Centre among them, were built to serve a district rather than one estate.
Where is Wang Tau Hom?
Wang Tau Hom holds inland ground in mid-north New Kowloon, inside Wong Tai Sin District, with the Kai Tak Development on its southern side.
