Nizza Millefonti runs south from Corso Bramante to the Moncalieri boundary, a long strip of Turin pinned between the Po and the Turin-Genoa railway. Circoscrizione 8 has held it since 2016. Its two ends are old customs gates, Piazza Carducci in the north and Piazza Bengasi in the south.

Three stretches of Nizza Millefonti book differently. The northern end at Corso Bramante is hospital ground: the Ospedale Molinette and the ospedale infantile Regina Margherita stand there, the Carducci-Molinette metro station is on Via Nizza, and ponte Balbis carries the road over the Po towards Cavoretto. Visiting families take those beds.
The Italia '61 belt nearer the river is quieter, with the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile at Corso Unità d'Italia 40 and the Palavela a short walk south of it. The southern end follows Via Nizza down to the metro terminus at Piazza Bengasi, the cheapest ground here and the furthest from the centre.

Italia '61 left the district its monuments. The Palazzo del Lavoro, Pier Luigi Nervi's exhibition hall of 1961 at Via Ventimiglia 221, has stood largely empty since 2009, and the Palavela at Via Ventimiglia 145 was rebuilt by Gae Aulenti and held the figure skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics. The Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile keeps roughly 200 cars at Corso Unità d'Italia 40.
North of them the Ospedale Molinette on Corso Bramante and the ospedale infantile Regina Margherita on Piazza Polonia make up most of the Città della Salute e della Scienza. The newest is the tallest. The Grattacielo della Regione Piemonte rises 42 floors from Piazza Piemonte 1, answered by the 57-metre campanile of 1927 at the chiesa del Patrocinio di San Giuseppe on Via Biglieri.
What is the history of Nizza Millefonti?
Two customs gates named the place. Piazza Carducci was the Barriera di Nizza, the southern toll gate on the road running towards the Savoyard county of Nice, while Millefonti recalls the underground springs that once fed the Po here. Mills on the riverbank gave the northern strip its nickname, Molinette, which the hospital of 1935 then took.
The Robilant estate of 1731 passed to Giovanni Agnelli, who built Fiat Avio on it; that plant was levelled in 2002. Bombing on 29 March 1944 destroyed the church of the Beata Vergine del Giairino of 1729, and the chiesa dell'Assunzione di Maria Vergine replaced it at Via Nizza 355 in 1950. The barracks along the old Corso Polonia came down between 1955 and 1961 for Expo 1961.
Where is Nizza Millefonti?
Four roads carry the district north to south: Corso Unità d'Italia, Via Ventimiglia, Via Genova and Via Nizza. The Turin-Genoa railway walls it in on the west, putting Lingotto, Filadelfia and Mirafiori Sud on the far side of the tracks. Torino Lingotto station sits over there too.
Getting across means the Corso Bramante flyover, the Ventimiglia and Spezia underpasses, the Via Passo Buole bridge or the Olympic footbridge. Eastward the ground falls to the left bank of the Po. San Salvario begins past Corso Bramante.
