What is the history of Annedal?
Annedal rose as workers' housing south of the old town. The quarter took shape on the hillsides as Gothenburg spread outward, and a parish formed around the building of Annedalskyrkan among its streets. The redoubt of Skansen Kronan watched over it from the heights nearby.
Then came the clearances. Much of its original housing was demolished in the late 1960s and early 1970s to make way for modern housing estates.
