About Nordstaden
What are the main landmarks in Nordstaden?

Nordstaden gathers the Göteborgs stadsmuseum, the city museum housed in the old East India Company building, together with the Tyska kyrkan and the Maritiman ships moored along the quay as Göteborgs Maritima Centrum. Eight listed buildings stand in the district, among them the Börshuset, Kronhuset and the Sahlgrenska huset.

Nordstaden is part of Gothenburg's original city area. Its western half keeps older buildings such as Kronhuset, the City Hall, the Bourse, the German Church and Ostindiska huset. In Östra Nordstaden the last older houses were torn down in May 1971 to make room for the Nordstan shopping centre.

Nordstaden lies in central Gothenburg, north of the Stora Hamnkanalen canal. It covers 42 hectares. Östra Hamngatan, once a canal itself, divides it into Östra and Västra Nordstaden, and the Packhuskajen quay runs along the Göta älv from Stora Bommen to Lilla Bommen.
