What are the main landmarks in Haga?
Two landmarks crown the district. Haga is watched over by Skansen Kronan, the hilltop fortress, and gathered around Hagakyrkan, the church on its eastern flank, with the cafés and antiquarian shops of the wooden quarter between them. What is the history of Haga?
This was Gothenburg's first suburb. Haga grew up outside the original walls in the seventeenth century, a working district of wooden houses set beneath Skansen Kronan, the fortress raised on the hill to guard the city. Hagakyrkan, the parish church, anchors its eastern edge.
The low timber rows survived where so many others were cleared.

It lies just south of the old town. Haga fills the central part of Gothenburg below the fortress hill of Skansen Kronan, hemmed in by the neighbouring districts of Annedal to the west and Linnéstaden nearby, with the Nordstaden core a short walk to the north. This is south-western Sweden.
