Where to stay in Central Park
Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.
This is a residential neighbourhood first. Hotels inside it are thin on the ground, so most visitors book beds in central Denver and ride the A Line commuter rail out from Union Station to Central Park station in a matter of minutes. Travellers who want quiet, walkable streets, quick reach of the Shops at Northfield, and green space along the Sand Creek Regional Greenway can base themselves here, while the deeper stock of rooms sits back toward downtown Denver.

About Central Park
What are the main landmarks in Central Park?
Open space is the draw here. Bluff Lake Nature Center holds a wildlife refuge on the eastern edge of the old airport land, and the Sand Creek Regional Greenway threads a restored trail corridor along Sand Creek toward the neighbourhood. Shopping anchors the other end.
The Shops at Northfield gathers the district's retail, while Central Park station on the A Line carries visitors straight through toward Denver International Airport. The green heart is the park itself, the eighty-acre space that gave Central Park its name.
What is the history of Central Park?
An airport made way for it. When Denver retired Stapleton International Airport in 1995 and shifted flights to Denver International Airport, the vast runway land east of the city lay open for a new district, and construction of the residential streets began in 2001 on the cleared ground. The neighbourhood carried the airport's name for years.
It later took the name Central Park from its central green space, and the A Line commuter rail eventually laid tracks across the former runways, tying the redeveloped blocks back to downtown Denver.
Where is Central Park?
Central Park spreads across former airport land east of downtown Denver, its grid of streets bounded by Interstate 70 and edged by Sand Creek and the Sand Creek Regional Greenway.
