Mount Lookout trades in shopfronts rather than bedrooms, so the room itself is normally booked down in central Cincinnati. Mt. Lookout Square is the whole commercial part of the hill: a short parade of shops where Delta Avenue meets Linwood Avenue, wrapped around a small city greenspace that the neighborhood council tends. The streets behind it are houses.
Book a bed in the basin, drive out along Columbia Parkway and climb Delta Avenue for a morning in Ault Park; that pattern suits you better than looking for a front desk on the hill.

What are the main landmarks in Mount Lookout?
Ault Park closes the eastern end of Mount Lookout, a hillside of lawns, woods and formal gardens opened in 1911 and named for Levi Addison Ault and his wife, who gave part of the ground. The Ault Park Pavilion holds the centre, with the flower gardens and the lookout point beside it. Observatory Avenue runs to the gates.
West of there, Mt. Lookout Square gathers the shops where Delta Avenue meets Linwood Avenue, and Kilgour School sits a few streets north on Herschel Avenue.
What is the history of Mount Lookout?
Mount Lookout was a village called Delta until Cincinnati annexed it in 1870, and its present name arrived with a telescope. In the years after, the University of Cincinnati moved its observatory up from Mount Adams, and John Kilgour gave the ground for it. The hill took the lookout's name.
Kilgour School on Herschel Avenue still carries the donor's family name, while the Cincinnati Observatory stands just beyond the northern edge of the neighborhood, in Hyde Park.
