Rooms are scarce along Glenway Avenue. Visitors who want a hotel bed generally take the Western Hills Viaduct east over the Mill Creek valley toward downtown Cincinnati, or drive out past Cheviot to Harrison Avenue at Dent in Green Township. Glenway Crossing Transit Center gathers the west-side bus routes on Glencrossing Way in Covedale.

What are the main landmarks in Western Hills?
Western Hills High School has stood on Ferguson Road in Covedale since 1928, its two classroom wings added ten years later, its graduate roll running from Pete Rose to Rosemary Clooney. Glenway Avenue carries the rest. The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts opened at 4990 Glenway Avenue as a cinema in 1947 and seats 392 for live theatre.
Western Hills Country Club keeps its fairways on Cleves Warsaw Pike, and Mount Echo Park has looked over the city from Price Hill since 1908.
What is the history of Western Hills?
Steep ground kept these hills thinly settled long after the basin filled. A funicular changed that. The Incline climbed 350 feet from Eighth Street and Glenway Avenue, and by the 1870s thousands of Irish and German Catholics had settled on the ridge General Rees E. Price had bought and developed.
Eleven parishes of these hills laid the cornerstone of Elder High School in 1922, and its girls' department moved next door to Seton in 1927. The Western Hills Viaduct went up for the Union Terminal project in 1930-1932, replacing the Harrison Avenue Viaduct of 1908. Western Hills Airport flew out of Bridgetown from 1929 to 1949.

The Mill Creek valley cuts these hills off from downtown Cincinnati, with Westwood to the north, Cheviot and Green Township west, and Delhi Township south.
