Two national institutions anchor any day out from Čengić vila: the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both a short run east along the valley floor. Sarajevo grew west along its valley floor in the second half of the twentieth century, and the ground that Čengić vila covers was taken into the new municipality of Novo Sarajevo along with Grbavica and the estates beyond it.
