Koševo II, Sarajevo — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Koševo II is one half of the Koševo neighbourhood in Sarajevo's Centar municipality, between old Stari Grad and newer Novo Sarajevo.

About Koševo II

Where to stay in Koševo II

Not every neighbourhood fits every trip — here's what each one is good for.

Beds here sit above the centre, not in it. Koševo II keeps residential streets within walking distance of Centar's offices, and visitors trade the crowds of Stari Grad for evenings near Pionirska dolina and the sports halls around the Zetra Ice Rink. Most rooms are apartments and family guesthouses.

For the old quarter, walk down into Stari Grad, or ride out toward Novo Sarajevo where the newer hotels stand.

About Koševo II

What are the main landmarks in Koševo II?

Sport sets the tone here. The Zetra Ice Rink stands with the sports grounds that spread across the Koševo side of Centar, and the green of Pionirska dolina runs along the northern edge. Museums and churches are a downhill walk.

The Cathedral of Jesus' Heart, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina all lie within that walk or a short ride, and the Latin Bridge waits beyond them in Stari Grad.

What is the history of Koševo II?

Koševo sits on a seam. Sarajevo grew outward from the older quarters that Stari Grad still governs, and the newer city filled the ground now under Novo Sarajevo, which left Koševo in the band between the two. Centar was drawn around that middle.

The neighbourhood splits in two for local administration, and both halves keep the name: Džidžikovac-Koševo I on one side, Koševo II on the other. Both answer to Centar.

Where is Koševo II?

Koševo II lies in Centar, the band of Sarajevo between older quarters under Stari Grad and newer ones under Novo Sarajevo. Pionirska dolina marks the northern edge.
