Two museums face the boulevard. The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina keeps the Sarajevo Haggadah and a botanical garden between its four pavilions, while the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina stands next door in a concrete modernist box. Saint Joseph's Church raises its brick tower over the tram tracks.

What is the history of Marijin Dvor?
The quarter grew westward. Austro-Hungarian planners pushed Sarajevo out of its Ottoman bazaar and along the Miljacka in the closing decades of the nineteenth century, and the industrialist August Braun built the mansion that carries the name of his wife Marija. Ministries and museums followed the tramline.
Through the siege of the 1990s the exposed boulevard of Zmaja od Bosne drew fire from the ridges, and the burnt parliament tower above Trg Bosne i Hercegovine stood as a shell for years before it was rebuilt.
Where is Marijin Dvor?
The quarter runs along the north bank of the Miljacka, west of Sarajevo's Ottoman core, with Grbavica over the river and Skenderija just upstream.
