What is the history of Wondelgem?
Wondelgem was a municipality in its own right before Gent absorbed it. Annexations came in stages: parts of the municipality passed to Gent in 1885, again in 1900, and once more in 1920, each transfer moving another slice of Wondelgem inside the city line. The last step came on 1 January 1977, when what remained was merged into the city outright.
