Fort IX is the oldest thing standing in Sadyba, built in 1887 as one link in the ring of fortifications thrown around Warsaw. Sadyba keeps three entries. The Museum of Polish Military Technology and the Saint Jude Thaddeus church make up the other two.
Sadyba Best Mall, opened in 2000 and among the oldest shopping malls in Poland, is the commercial fixture the neighbourhood is known by.
What is the history of Sadyba?
Fort IX went up in 1887, part of the belt of fortifications built around Warsaw, and the ground it stood on was taken into the city in 1916. Houses followed through the 1920s. Sadyba and the Garden City of Czerniaków were laid out together then, both of them low-rise and single-family.
The 1970s brought estates of high-rise apartment buildings, and Sadyba Best Mall opened in 2000.
