The Szuster Palace, a Gothic Revival residence from 1774, and the Mokotów Tollhouses, two neoclassical pavilions from 1818, carry the earliest dates here, with the Belweder nearby. Monuments crowd the same streets: Frederic Chopin, Taras Shevchenko, Józef Piłsudski at the Belweder, and Achille Ratti.

Barracks left a trace too: the dom dowódcy Koszar Keksholmskich survives among the apartment blocks, as does the "Szare Domy" housing estate.
