Gåshaga is a waterfront residential corner of Lidingö rather than a lodging quarter, so most visitors base themselves in central Lidingö or over in Stockholm and ride the Lidingöbanan out to the eastern terminus. If you want to wake by the marina and the open sound, this quiet end of the island is the place to settle.

The water sets the scene here. Gåshaga marks the eastern terminus of the Lidingöbanan, where the light rail meets the quay and boats put out toward the archipelago, and the marina along the shore gives the district its working edge against the sound. The island's best-known sight lies elsewhere.
Millesgården, the sculpture park and museum on Lidingö, stands further west across the municipality, an easy ride in from the eastern end.
What is the history of Gåshaga?
Gåshaga grew up at the island's eastern shore. As Lidingö built out from its older core, housing and a small harbour gathered on this waterfront ground, and the Lidingöbanan light railway pushed its line east until the track ran out at Gåshaga by the sound. The change came slowly.
The eastern shore of Lidingö became a district of the municipality, set apart from Käppala just along the coast.
Where is Gåshaga?
Gåshaga holds the far eastern end of Lidingö, the island that lies in the water just east of Stockholm. The shore here faces the inner archipelago, and the neighbouring district of Käppala sits a short way back to the west along the same coast, so the land runs out into channels and small sounds at the eastern edge of the island. All of it falls within Lidingö Municipality, part of Stockholm County in eastern Sweden.
