About Herserud
What are the main landmarks in Herserud?
Millesgården, which Carl Milles built on the first plot sold here, and Villa Foresta share the Herserudsklippan cliff. At the former Brogrenen station, Ivar Tengbom's small waiting kiosk of 1925, the Vindarnas tempel, still stands. Bodals kyrka lies to the south-east.
What is the history of Herserud?
Herserud was the first large tract on Lidingö to be bought up from farm estates in the early 1900s and divided into plots for villas. AB Herserud began selling in 1906. Carl Milles was the first buyer, and soon after, Wilhelmina Skogh, then head of the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, bought the block beside his and built Villa Foresta there in 1908-1910.
Until the old Lidingö bridge opened in 1925, steamboats from Herserud to Ropsten competed with the crossing.
