What is the history of Sint-Andries?
Sint-Andries was set up as its own commune in 1796, and it governed the fields and hamlets west of the Brugge walls for the better part of two centuries. That ended on 1 January 1971. The merger folded the commune into Brugge, and the parish kept its name.
Older ground survives at the Charterhouse Sint-Anna-ter-Woestijne, a monastic house older than the commune line drawn in 1796.
